FME is an integrated collection of Spatial ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) tools. FME is a complete interoperability solution, eliminating barriers and enhancing data sharing capabilities.
FME consists of three primary components: FME Workbench, FME Universal Translator and FME Universal Viewer.
Local Authority Planning Application data overlain on OS MasterMap (as processed by Dotted Eyes' SuperpOSe Desktop GML Edition software) and viewed together with FME Universal Viewer.
FME can also be accessed directly within numerous market-leading GIS applications such as MapInfo Professional, ArcGIS and AutoCAD Map 3D.
Support for a gallery of GIS, CAD and database formats:Read and write data in over 250 formats. FME Desktop’s format support is unrivalled in the industry and supports CAD, GIS, raster, database, 3D and BIM formats; for example, AutoCAD DWF/DWG, Bentley Microstation Design file, ESRI Shape, GeoTIFF, MapInfo TAB and Oracle Spatial. You can also execute SQL queries against your spatial database, including ESRI ArcSDE, MySQL, PostGIS and SQL Server Spatial 2008 and this list just scratches the surface of the format support.View the latest list.
Data transformation:Within Workbench, transformers provide powerful ways to transform data as it moves from the source format to the destination format. The Transformer Gallery offers more than 300 transformers to help you easily and accurately manipulate the geometry and attributes of your spatial data, carrying out operations such as renaming or creating new attributes, joining features to a database, adjusting symbology or completing geometric operations like generalisation.
Coordinate conversion support:With FME choose from an extended gallery of thousands of co-ordinate systems based upon a variety of different projections, ellipsoid and datums or define your own custom co-ordinate system. Now with FME 2010 provide data to users in an immediately understandable way with new support for 1,850+ more coordinate systems, bringing the total to over 5,300.
Time and cost savings: The unique approach that FME brings to spatial data translation and transformation results in significant productivity gains. By removing format and data model barriers, existing workflows can remain intact even while data is being shared.
Product customisation flexibility: You can configure FME to meet your organisation's needs or contact Dotted Eyes Professional Services team for market-leading support, consultancy or training.
