ContourMap is derived from the Ordnance Survey Land-Form PANORAMA data set, covering GB (not including the Isle of Man). It consists of a set of seamless contour regions constructed from TerrainMap (Land-Form PANORAMA DTM). There is also a set of spot heights in the form of points.

ContourMap suggested applications
- Insurance risk;
- Wind farm planning;
- Line-of-site analysis;
- Floodplain mapping.
ContourMap features & use
- ContourMap regions at 10m intervals supplied in 20km x 20km tiles;
- Manipulate a 3D view of the land surface interactively, using the mouse;
- ContourMap can be supplied as ‘doughnut’ regions, bounded by an upper or lower contour of height - much more useful than the ‘broken’ contour lines in the Ordnance Survey data set;
- Shade the contour polygons to create a map tinted according to elevation;
- Analyse points such as insurance risks to check their height above sea level;
- Fit closely with contextual RangerMap product derived from OS 1:50,000 Scale Colour Raster dataset;
- Available as full national GB coverage or smaller ‘cut-out’ extracts (priced per sq km) or any combination of 20km x 20km tiles (priced per tile).
ContourMap technical information
A workspace (for use in MapInfo Professional GIS) or project file (for use in ESRI ArcView/GIS) are supplied.
Suitable for scales on screen in the range 1:200,000 to 1:20,000. The 20km x 20km tiles are based on the OSGB grid.
The British National Grid co-ordinate system is used.
The storage space required is about 30GB for full GB coverage in MapInfo TAB format.
Main formats available: MapInfo TAB, ESRI SHP, AutoCAD DXF, Illustrator EPS and others.
ContourMap is licensed for internal business use by a specified number of users and includes hard copy prints up to A3 in size. Publishing on the Internet may count as a single user.
