TrackerMap (Ordnance Survey 1:10,000 Scale Raster)

TrackerMap TrackerMap is a backdrop raster map product based on the Ordnance Survey 1:10,000 Scale Raster (OS Landplan) data set, made up of a set of raster images covering GB (not including the Isle of Man). It consists of digital images, ideally suited for scales on screen in the range 1:10,000 to 1:2,000. There is also a vector layer of place names suitable for use with the Find command in MapInfo Professional.

TrackerMap features & use

  • Outstandingly clear street-level mapping, with cartographically positioned text;
  • Similar to PlannerMap images but with additional line details such as fences, walls and hedges;
  • Clearly legible street and important building names;
  • Storage size has been minimised by sub-sampling and reduction of colour depth;
  • Subtle pastel colours are used, so any overlay layers can be seen more readily;
  • Find over 57,000 settlements: towns, cities, suburbs and villages;
  • Supplied as 5km square images, available in any combination;
  • Uses memory effectively, as seamless tables load and unload images when required.

TrackerMap technical information

A workspace or project file is supplied.

The nominal scale of these images is 1:10,000 (about 6 inches to 1 mile) and the resolution is 10 dots/mm (254 dpi). Each pixel represents 1m square.

The British National Grid co-ordinate system is used.

The colour images all use the same 4-bit palette of 16 colours. The edges between adjacent colours are slightly softened to improve the appearance. LZW compression is used.

The storage space required is approximately 1.4Mb per 5km x 5km tile on average.

Main formats available: TIFF, JPEG and others, along with georeferencing files for use in GIS.

  • Selected area (priced per tile); and
  • Northern Ireland (companion product –TrackerMap OSNI - derived from Ordnance Survey of Northern Ireland 1:10,000 Scale Raster dataset).
