TourerMap technical information

A workspace or project file is supplied.

The nominal scale of these images is 1:250,000 (about 1 inch to 4 miles) and the resolution is 10 dots/mm (254 dpi). Each pixel represents 25m square.

The British National Grid co-ordinate system is used.

The colour images all use the same 4-bit palette of 16 colours. These are web-safe colours that avoid dithering if you use any computer set to 256 colours or more. The edges between adjacent colours are slightly softened to improve the appearance. LZW compression is used.

The storage space required is approximately 3.6Mb per 100km x 100km tile on average.

Main formats available: TIFF, JPEG and others, along with georeferencing files for use in GIS.
