RadarMap (NEXTMap Britain)
RadarMap is derived from the InterMap NEXTMap Britain dataset, covering Great Britain (not including the Isle of Man). It consists of highly accurate, up-to-date, terrain grid data at a range of resolutions, depending on your application.

RadarMap suggested applications
- Zones of visual intrusion;
- Insurance risk;
- Wind farm planning;
- Line-of-site analysis.
RadarMap features & use
- Two flavours available – Digital Terrain Model (DTM) and Digital Surface Model (DSM);
- Grid available at 10m or 5m intervals with height accuracy of ±1m root mean square error (RMSE) in areas of minimal vegetation and terrain slope less than 20 degrees;
- Visualise the ground surface as a coloured two-dimensional map view;
- Drape other map layers onto 3D view of the land surface;
- Construct models to simulate drainage and probability of flooding;
- Suitable for large-scale mapping at street-level – for example, with contextual PlannerMap product derived from Ordnance Survey OS Street View Raster dataset;
- Available as full national GB coverage or smaller ‘cut-out’ extracts (priced per sq km).
RadarMap technical information
The grid data set is in individual 10km square tiles, with a seamless table (for use in MapInfo Professional GIS) to present them as a single layer.
Suitable for scales on screen in the range 1:100,000 to 1:10,000.
The British National Grid co-ordinate system is used.
The storage space required is approximately 26Mb per 10km square tile for DSM at 10m in MapInfo TAB format.
Main formats available: MapInfo TAB, ESRI SHP, AutoCAD DXF, Illustrator EPS and others.
RadarMap is licensed for internal business use by all users in an organisation, other than for creating flood hazard maps. Publishing (e.g. on the Internet) is not licensed. Certain derivative works may be royalty-free.
After the first year there is an annual charge, including one update per year. A perpetual licence is available on request.
