Dotted Eyes intends this website to be available to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. We aim to achieve a high level of accessibility and usability by adhering to standards and guidelines.
In building solutions for customers we use similar methods and apply the same degree of care.
Guidelines and standards
This website has been built to conform to level Double-A of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities. Conformance with these guidelines will help to make the Internet more friendly for all users.
The pages comply with W3C standards for XHTML and CSS. That means the website displays correctly in current browsers, and any future standards compliant browsers will also display it correctly.
Accessibility features
A number of features have been implemented to optimise accessibility:
- Page structure
- The pages are well structured, in that separate elements are used to contain different types of information. For example all headings, lists and links are clearly identified.
- Style
- Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) are used to style the content. On screen the text size can be increased or decreased by using the View > Text Size menu in most browsers. A separate style sheet is provided for printing to improve clarity and to save ink or toner.
- Images
- Images that convey important information have alternative text. Where an image is used for a decorative purpose there is no alternative text. This helps to make the website intelligible for users of screen reader software.
- Navigation
- Consistent navigation is used throughout the site. A site map is available to provide information about the website structure and there is also a search facility.
